Orthodontics for children
We specialise in orthodontic care that promotes your child’s long-term dental health and wellbeing.
We guide your child’s natural development and intercept problems early. Our specialist approach goes beyond straightening teeth — at Orthoclinic, we build a foundation of lasting health and confidence for your child’s smile.

Early preventative treatment
Guides your child’s natural jaw growth to prevent problems before they start. Intervention now can mean a much simpler journey later.

Jaw expanders
Gradually widens the upper jaw as your child grows, naturally creating room for permanent teeth. Jaw expanders are an effective treatment at this age.

Space maintainers
Holds space after early tooth loss so other teeth don’t shift. Prevents crowding and keeps your child’s long-term dental development on track.

Orthodontic plates
Removable appliances that gently guide jaw and tooth development during critical growth years. Perfect for younger children, easier to maintain.

Metal braces
The most effective option for comprehensive alignment. Fun colour options, proven results, and a confident, lasting smile for your child.
Early treatment
Why early assessment and treatment matters
When we assess your child around age 7–8, we can identify developing issues before they become serious.
Early intervention guides natural jaw growth, often preventing more complex problems later. This means your child might need less treatment overall, shorter treatment time, and a path to a healthy smile with confidence built in from the start.

Your child deserves specialist care from a team that understands their unique needs. Ask your dentist for a referral to Orthoclinic.
Most children benefit from an assessment around age 7–8, when we can see how the jaw is developing.
Most children are ready for braces between ages 9 and 14, once enough permanent teeth have come through. Some benefit from earlier guidance appliances first, so we tailor the timing to each child’s development.
Cost depends on the treatment your child needs and how long it takes. Early, preventative care is generally less involved than full braces. We give you a clear, itemised quote at the initial consultation, with interest-free payment-plan options.
Orthodontists are dental specialists who complete several years of additional university training focused solely on the alignment of teeth and jaws. While your dentist looks after your overall oral health, our specialists dedicate all of their time to orthodontics.
You don’t need a referral to see us — you’re welcome to book a consultation directly. If your dentist has recommended treatment, simply let us know and we’ll coordinate with them.
There’s usually a feeling of pressure for a short time after each adjustment, but it isn’t painful and settles quickly. Most children adapt within a few days, including any temporary lisp or extra saliva.
