Why early treatment

Early preventative treatment guides your child’s jaw and tooth development before problems have a chance to take hold.

We assess most children around age 7–8, when we can see how the adult teeth and jaw are developing. If we spot a developing issue — crowding, a narrow jaw, a bite problem — a short course of early treatment can steer growth in the right direction.

Intercepting issues early often means less treatment overall, shorter time in braces later, and a healthier foundation for your child’s smile.

What’s involved

Early treatment is gentle, straightforward, and tailored to your child.

Depending on what we find, early treatment might involve a simple appliance like an expander or plate, worn for several months. We keep appointments short and friendly so your child stays comfortable throughout.

Not every child needs early treatment — sometimes the best approach is simply to monitor growth and act later. We’ll always recommend the least invasive option.
